Here is a little background info on where I get some of the best scrap plywood from.......
Swallow Boats design and manufacture traditional style sail boats just down the road from my studio near Cardigan. Their stunning new workshop sits beautifully on the Teifi Estuary where they produce their epoxy ply boats using the highest quality marine plywood.
A large CNC machine is used to cut the boats ply components. The awkwardly shaped off-cuts are too be used for anything else so this is were I come in - scavenging anything I can.
Here is owner Tat Newland with Ian working on the first BayCruiser 20.
The ply collected from Swallow Boats is used throughout the re-plied Collection, mainly on the edges for a superior finish.
