Visiting Pembrokeshire????

The clocks have changed meaning an exciting exhibition season is upon us......

Last year I was lucky enough to join the Pembrokeshire Craft Makers(PCM), an extremely talented bunch of designer makers from all disciplines.

Newport Pembs will be re-ply designs first PCM show of 2010, starting on the 2nd to finish on the 25th of April. So if your in the area this easter just follow the signs up to St Marys Hall. I'll be exhibiting a wide range of smaller products, with a few new ones - for you to take home with you.

Swallow Boats

Here is a little background info on where I get some of the best scrap plywood from.......

Swallow Boats design and manufacture
traditional style sail boats just down the road from my studio near Cardigan. Their stunning new workshop sits beautifully on the Teifi Estuary where they produce their epoxy ply boats using the highest quality marine plywood.

A large CNC machine is used to cut the boats ply components. The awkwardly shaped off-cuts are too be used for anything else so this is were I come in - scavenging anything I can.

Here is owner Tat Newland with Ian working on the first BayCruiser 20.

The ply collected from Swallow Boats is used throughout the re-plied Collection, mainly on the edges for a superior finish.

Meridian Magazine

A lovely mention in Meridian Magazine this month........thanks Nazia.

Grand Designs Live

I've always loved the Grand Designs programme - still an ambition of mine to one day be on the show.......but back to reality for the time being.

From the 1st - 9th of May 2010 London's Excel Centre will be jam packed with GRAND Kitchens,
GRAND Bathrooms, GRAND Gardens, GRAND Interiors, GRAND Builds but most importantly GRAND Design, which is were I'll be.

re-ply designs will be at stand E81 in the Grand Design Arcade with fresh new designs from The re-plied Collection. Will give you a sneak peek later on......

Cardiff Design Festival

I have just been reminded by Angela Gidden to blog my heart out so here we go............

I'll start by going back to the Cardiff Design Festival in October where the re-plied Grow Table and Stool were shortlisted for the Furniture award. It was a great party in Cardiff's Mermaid Quay, only to be back a week later for Wonder Cultures Designers Market in the new Chapter Arts Centre. An amazing space filled with lots of talented Welsh designers including Nomad & Nest, Rachel Horrocks, Jenni Stone, Eak Design and many more.

re-ply designs had a few little mentions in Buzz Magazine, Design Up Your Street and the Western Mail - great stuff.
